“Extracted from the ( 1980 )Khartum Shriners Anniversary year book.”

As Past Masters of Craft Lodges and Nobles of the Mystic Shrine we pause to look back to our inception 11 years ago, also to look ahead with new plans and new ideas for the 1980's.

From a small group of Nobles under the direction of M.W. Bro. Noble Alex Slessor and sanction from Illustrious Sir Noble Jon Johnson, Potentate of Khartum Temple, we have grown in number to more than three hundred—patiently building, working, and planning with genuine interest in the fundamental principles and our humble beginning—Freemasonry.

R.W Bro. Noble George Bromwell almost started with the club, served as President in 1973 and the past six years as secretary.

Noble Pres. Neal "Sandy" McTaggart enjoyed a very successful 1979. Our members made many sojourns to craft lodges carrying the message of Harmony between our two great organizations.

The highlight of 1979 would have to be the Oasis during the Midwest summer session. Many of our members and past officers performed a superb job entertaining the visitors from every Temple in the Midwest and beyond.

The ladies were included for our annual meeting and installation of Officers in December. 1979. This was our Tenth Anniversary and all our Past Presidents but Noble Alex Slessor were with us. Illustrious Sir Noble Jon Johnson was made an Honorary Member to the satisfaction of all present.

1980 included a visit to Sioux Lookout Lodge No. 518 on March 1st. It was highlighted by raising seven new candidates and concluded with a banquet and dance. A quote should be included here from the Grand Lodge of Canada in Ontario Tracing Board, "following supper we were then treated to a spontaneous and very inspiring talk on the work of Shriners with crippled children by RW Bro. 'Sandy' McTaggart for which he received a standing ovation."

Our first "Fifth Monday" meeting was held in Brandon, Manitoba, at which the Past Master's Club donation to the Masonic Peace Garden Project was raised to $500.00.
